The design pictured here is my personal design. This home conbines Earth Shelter technology with Thermal Envelope technology and the goes one step further. The Thermal Envelope is traditional. Heat rises in the front/south solar furnace. As it cools it passes down the back of the dwelling and out the base, back into the solar furnace to be reheated. Above the concrete roof is 2'-3' of soil,2"high density foam, epdm moisture barrier, and 2'-3'of additional soil. Here's the twist: The first layer of soil acts as a Heat Bank, not insulation! All Heat energy escaping the home is traped. Do that with an above ground dwelling. Below are a couple of books from my library.

Cordwood Masonary

The cordwood house is one of the least expensive ways to build. All you need is a wood lot. Cut the trees, remove the bark with a draw knife and let it dry. Cut the logs to the width of your walls (10"?) Beams make up the corners and then start laying the logs with masonary cement, just like stone. Of course it is a little more complex but not that much. Super "R" value in 10" solid wood walls! Round walls are a snap. House looks like stone from a distance.

Nicola Tesla: Master of Lightning

Everything we have today can be traced back to a Tesla invention. It has been 100 years and yet we still don"t completely understand his inventions. Remembered mostly for the Tesla coil and his rivalry with Edison.
He was the first to explore space with radio waves. How about the "Philadelphia Experiment"? Who's idea do you think it was to use pulsating and nonpulsating fields to cloak a ship? What was the little wood box that powered an auto for a week at speeds up to 80mph?
Anyone contemplating off the grid technology should start with Tesla. Check the Tesla Links below and see the PBS video above.
